A policeman who went berserk and shot his colleague dead has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command. The culprit, Inspector Monday Gabriel from No 21 Police Mobile Force Squadron Abuja, on Special duty in a Federal Government facility in Ikoyi, Lagos, went berserk and started shooting sporadically. He shot one Sergeant Felix Okago dead. Okago, who was on Special duty with the Inspector, died from the gunshot injuries while others escaped unhurt. It was gathered that the police officer, in a bid to escape, was shooting sporadically on Third Mainland Bridge and was later arrested by policemen from Bariga Division along Akoka, disarmed and handcuffed. At least 268 Nigerians evacuated from China have arrived in Abuja on Saturday. Their flight touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Saturday afternoon. This was confirmed by the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa. Dabiri-Erewa, in an update on Twitter, said the returnees would proceed on a compulsory 14-day quarantine, as stipulated by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). “268 stranded Nigerians arrive in Abuja airport about 2.30pm today, from China. “They will be proceeding for the mandatory 14-day quarantine,” she wrote.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, Alhaji Ibrahim Dauda is dead. Duada died in Daura, Katsina State, after a prolonged illness. Reacting to his nephew’s demise, Buhari lamented that death has robbed his family and the Daura community of one of its finest gentlemen. Buhari stated this in a condolence message to his family and was contained in a statement signed and sent to DAILY POST by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, on Saturday. “I am deeply touched and devastated by the passing of yet another family member, a man who had demonstrated amazing kindness and honesty in all his dealings,” Buhari said. The president prayed to God to forgive the soul of the deceased and reward his great and noble deeds with paradise. Dauda is survived by his children, including Dauda Ibrahim, a Chief Administrative Officer in the State House, Abuja.
