Coronavirus government response updates: Trump reacts
Trump, in first reaction to 100,000 deaths, calls it a 'very sad milestone'
More than 14 hours after 100,000 Americans were reported to have died from the novel corona virus, President Donald Trump on Thursday May 28,acknowledged the death toll, calling it a "very sad milestone."
In a tweet Thursday morning, Trump said he extends his "heartfelt sympathy & love for everything that these great people stood for & represent."
This comes after the president for months downplayed the corona virus, comparing it to the flu, and suggested throughout the month of April that the country wouldn't reach 100,000 deaths.
