THE REPORT ON IDF NGO NATIONAL ELECTION SUPERVISORY COMMITTEE ON THE JUST CONCLUDED NATIONAL YOUTHS ELECTION ON THEIR ONLINE PLATFORM TO OBEY THE COVID 19 GUIDELINES.

Good morning all, the election supervisory panel headed by Hon. Okey Elosi and Barr. Kenechukwu Okide wish to state that we diligently  did our performed our assignment of supervising the election of IDF NGO National youth wing online executive members elections held on the 1st day of August, 2020 and which commenced by 8:00 pm and ended at about few minutes to 12:00 am.

The electoral process was anchored by electoral committee headed by Engr. Chidiebere Jonathan Okafor and Barr. Chukwuka. Based on our observation, it was discovered that a whatsApp platform was dedicated by the committee for the purpose of nomination and election of candidates for the election by the members and which the members indeed used for nomination and election of all the executive posts except the president, whose election or selection was done earlier and approved by the National body.

We also further discovered that nomination of candidates stated few days before the election day. On the election day proper, we observed that a member of electoral committee in the person of Barr. Chukwuka was complaining that he was sidelined by the chairman of the committee during the announcement of the results of the election by the chairman.

We are not in position to determine the extent of the allegations because the election was conducted online and we believe that both of them provided their whatsApp lines for the purpose of collation of results from nomination made by members and should work together and we believe that due to positive of time the two members of the committee may not have time to reconcile their results, which we believe must have been reconciled. We urge the National body to look into that.

Apart from that, we believe that the election was conducted seamlessly and the members conducted themselves with decency and decorum and we believe that the outcome of the elections is the true reflection of the will of the members, even though they were pockets of complaints by some members.

We also note that this elections conducted through whatsApp may have it's shortcomings but I believe that is the best option we have and I believe that in the near coming elections that we may use zoom which is far better and transparent.

In conclusion, we wish to state that the elections was peaceful and in line with the rules. We wish to urge those who won to be magnanimous in victory and they were elected to change the face of Ideani, I hope they know the enormous responsibilities on their shoulders and for those, who are not lucky, better luck next time.

We the members of the committee thanked you all for finding us worthy to serve. Thanks and God bless you all.
