 My heart is broken. My little sister Uche Okafor (Nee Mezue) died yesterday. Words cannot express the grief I feel. Uche was the warmest, kindest, friendliest human I have ever known. She was full of hope and looked positively ahead to a brighter future. She leaves behind seven children and a husband. We were privileged to have her spend about a month with us here in New York earlier this year. Posted below are some pictures I took of her in one of our events here. She was really excited to see the governors wife and they had fruitful conversations. Her ever present smile will remain implanted in my mind forever. Uche, your hard work will not go in vain. Only the good die young. May God accept you and give you the peace and happiness you deserve. Farewell my dear and I love you.

Breaking! Nigerian troops rescue 241 women and children from Boko Haram captivity (photos)

Troops attached to Sector 1 of Operation LAFIYA DOLE have rescued 241 kidnapped victims from Boko Haram captivity in Mudu village in Borno state. A statement released by the Defence headquarters today May 28, says the kidnapped victims were rescued during an operation on May 23. The rescued victims comprises of 105 women and 136 children. The statement adds that Twelve (12) Boko Haram terrorists were killed during the operation. In a related development, troops of 151 Battalion on May 24 killed three more sect members during a crossfire in Firgi area in the state.  In the same vein, troops of the 155 Battalion Banki Junction carried out exploitation operation towards Sambisa forest in pursuit of fleeing BHTs. The dogged efforts of the troops yielded uncommon success as two (2) terrorists dead bodies, heavy cache of assorted arms, ammunition and other equipment were recovered. BREAKING: Lagos discharges seven coronavirus patients Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos providing update on coronavirus The Lagos State Government has announced the discharge of seven coronavirus patients in the state after they tested negative twice to the virus. This takes the total number of persons discharged to 51 in Nigeria.
